Emma Pretzmann Feil is a PhD candidate at the University of Copenhagen were she researches the Jewish experience of the encounter with antisemitism on social media among the Jewish youth in Denmark. Emma holds an MA in Ethnology from the University in Copenhagen and was prior to the Phd Fellowship head of the Jewish Information Center in Copenhagen.
Emma’s research is part of the project Code and Conspiracy: Antisemitism in Denmark After 1945 (ASIDE) which aims to explain the prevalence and perseverance of antisemitism in Danish society from 1945 until today. The thesis expands the investigation of antisemitism in Denmark empirically into the exclusively contemporary digital realm focusing on the recipient perspective. The case study explores mainstream and context dependent antisemitism on social media, i.e., how contemporary forms of antisemitism are experienced. Her qualitative approach to the study on antisemitism on social media has been widely recognized as a responsible way to capture the Jewish experience.
